The world is at war, and all forms of life are being threatened. What is very disconcerting is that trigger happy mad men who stand to profit greatly from the war, are at the helm. That does not auger well for you and me, small guys who view the ongoing madness through eyes of disbelief and concern.

The question is, is the most recent conflict in the Middle East somehow linked to the Ukrainian war? I believe it is – and the connection is there for all to see.
Over decades Russia told the Ukraine, NATO and the rest of the world that it had the right to self-defence and therefore required space between itself and NATO with the Ukraine acting as the neutral buffer. A warning was issued that if the Ukraine would even so much as think about joining NATO (i.e. bringing NATO’s missiles to within minutes of reaching Moscow) then Russia would invade the Ukraine. Well, the rest is history.
The Ukraine commenced with the process of joining NATO, and what followed was the Russian invasion. Russia made good on its intent and threat. Within 50 days after the invasion, the Ukraine was ready to negotiate peace. However, this was not what the forces with big money intended to happen, and they sent Boris Johnson to Kiev. The message was simple. We will give you whatever you ask – we give you a blank cheque. Together we will overcome this invasion, bring Putin down and put him on trial for war crimes.
Hundreds of billions of dollars later, accompanied by much bloodshed, loss of lives and trauma, the pendulum swung. Putin has achieved his objectives. First, the Ukraine will no longer join NATO, since there is no Ukraine left to join anything. Second, the Donbass region has been secured as a buffer to counter any possible repeat of the same eastward drive of NATO in future. Third, Putin’s power in Russia has been consolidated, more so after the quelling of the Wagner Group’s mutiny and, dare I say, mysterious death of its flamboyant leader. Fourth, the Russian economy, while it took a knock at first, has rebounded very well and might even be in a better position now than before the war. Why? Because of the strategic associations and network Putin forged over decades and which he, with the help of allies, cemented over the past couple of years. When comparing the number of countries, the geographical area they cover and the number of people they represent in the “Putin” block and those in the “Zelensky” block, before the war and now, then one realises there has been only one winner. It does not look good for the West.
The war in the Ukraine has destabilised food and energy supply chains globally, which affect you and me, but it has not brought NATO closer to Russia. On the contrary: the rift is much deeper.
Why is the NATO/Russia issue of importance? The answer is called the New World Order. To the west, the concept New World Order means a global uni-polar future as touted by the World Economic Forum. Putin also refers to the concept of the New World Order regularly, but has a very different definition in mind, namely that of a new multi-polar world order. In this multi-polar world order, he and Xi of China and those who are in their block, would not be puppets of Davos’ masters. The globalists have lost the war in the Ukraine – perhaps not on the battleground, but in terms of achieving their objectives. They could not usurp global power and dominion by breaking Putin’s resistance; instead, they have, ironically, advanced his cause of a multi-polar world quite a bit. They needed another conflict to up the antics.
Enter 7 October 2023, 50 years to the day since the start of the 1973 Yom Kippur war. As in 1973, 7 October 2023 was on a Shabbat, and also a set-apart, very special, Biblical holiday. On this day Hamas, the militant Palestinian terror group, invaded Israel. Absolutely unthinkable! (Incidentally, when translated, the word hamas literally means violence and/or barbarism). In broad daylight they broke through fences with caterpillars and used motorbikes and paragliders to enter Israel from Gaza. They breached arguably the world’s best guarded border which uses the most specialised observation
equipment. They outsmarted MOSSAD, the world’s best intelligence force. They left the IDF, one of the most powerful armies of the world, paralyzed for seven hours. There is no Stephen Spielberg script ever written that is more bizarre. That set aside, during that period of IDF paralysis, rank and file Israelis were slaughtered, butchered, by people who did not prepare to go back to Gaza. From their preparations, or the lack thereof, it is evident that they had no end game in mind other than to die as martyrs in Israel. The net outcome thereof? The world is engaged in a new war. While all wars are bad and leading to the death of many, this war is different. This war is extremely serious.
The IDF has barely come out of its slumber, MOSSAD hardly switched on its cameras again, and the entire world, or so it seemed, supported Israel in outrage to the truly barbaric attack. It only took a few days however and the world was once again united, deeply entrenched rather, in its divisions. The pro-Zelensky team united with Netanyahu and the pro-Putin team with the Palestinian cause. It is the globalists’ New World Order against the multi-polar New World Order; the same teams, same game, but a different venue. It is the forces of darkness on one side facing the forces of darkness on the other side. This time the agents of war, Israel/USA/UK/France, etc. who are facing Russia/Iran/Turkey/China, are all nuclear powers – and they have indicated their willingness to use their arsenals. (Note: NATO is in deep trouble. Turkey, a NATO member, supported Russia but did not get involved militarily in the Ukraine. In this new conflict Turkey has already aligned itself militarily with the Palestinian people.)
The powder keg has been lit, and there is nowhere to hide. In Africa there is a proverb stating that when two bull elephants fight, it is the grass that is getting trampled. I’m but a small blade of grass, and so are 8 billion others…In and during war it is the ordinary people, like those in Israel and the peace loving innocent in Gaza, that suffer the undiluted consequences of war.  One cannot but have immense sympathy for their situations – trapped like grass under the feet of raging bull elephants. Vulnerable and violated. Daily exposed to a loss of life, destruction, and dreams being shattered.

According to Biblical prophecy (Ezech 38-39; Dan 11-12; Ps 83) there is a war (or a rapid succession of wars) coming that will all but destroy Israel if it was not for the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. God will show up and, in HIS special way as HE so wishes, put an end to it. Only a remnant of believers will be left. It will take seven months to bury the dead.
Is the 7 October 2023 war the start of THIS war? It is too early to tell. However, it does seem that this conflict could be part of what was foretold in Zech 12. This war has the potential to explode and become the Ezech 38-39 war. What we do know is that we must choose our team today. If you are for the globalists, the answer is easy. If you are for the multi-polar faction, the answer is equally simple. If you are party to one of these two, then know that both are but legions of the kingdom of darkness. The king of darkness is also the father of lies, deception and division who thrives on killing, stealing and destruction (John 10). This king aims to, through chaos, establish himself as god in Jerusalem with a throne and an altar for himself (Rev 13; Dan 9). Herein lies the key to unravelling a mystery, the mystery of the severity of the current conflict.
While seeking each other’s destruction, these forces of darkness are, knowingly or unknowingly, collaborating to the same end: to decimate the prophetically declared and biblically defined Israel. This will pave the way for the crowning of the king of darkness. In the end, however, both forces will be obliterated by the Creator and defender of the redeemed Israel. The aftermath of that destruction will be the revealing of the bride of Messiah, the true, re-born, Israel (Ezech 38-39; Joel 2). There are therefore not only two, but three options to choose from. There is a very active third party: the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, YHVH.
Believers must align themselves with YHVH, with His covenants, stand with and support fellow believers and pray for the harvest (Joel 2) like never before. We do so in anticipation of the return of the Messiah and the establishment of the King of the commonwealth of Israel, seated on His throne in Jerusalem (Ps 122; Ezech 40-48; Micah 4; Matt 24; Eph 2; Rev 19).

  • The Tongue: From Fire to Restoration May 31, 2026
Last week, in Nosa (Numbers 4:21-7:89), we discussed the priestly blessing as a model of restoration, where people are lifted up and blessed. This week, in Beha'alotcha (Numbers 8:1-12:16), we see a practical illustration of this in the lives of Moses and Miriam. James 3:5-10 paints a vivid and unsettling picture of the […]
  • Heaven’s Voice, Echoed on Earth May 26, 2026
Comparing the Priestly blessing in Numbers 6:24-26 with the Lord’s prayer in Matthew 6:9-13, we find a beautiful symmetry in Scripture, like and echo reflecting back. One is spoken over the people, the other through the people, yet both flow from the same divine heart. The Priestly Blessing begins, “יהוה bless you and […]
